South Carolina shooting leaves 5 dead, two of them were children

Five people, including two children, were killed in a shooting occurred inside a home in Rock Hill , in the state of South Carolina, reported Thursday the office of the York County Sheriff.

A suspect was found after an hours-long search for the attacker in a York County mass shooting Wednesday evening that left five people, including two children and a prominent doctor, dead, authorities said.

A sixth person is seriously injured after having also received a bullet impact and has been arrested as he is considered suspected of having caused the massacre.

“ We have identified the person we believe is responsible for the shooting on Marshall Road. We found him in a house near (to the place of the event). There is no active threat to the community, ”the York County Sheriff’s Office tweeted.

“ Sadly, 5 people have died as a result of the shooting. Dr. Robert Lesslie and his wife, Barbara Lesslie were found in the home and they died as a result of gunshot wounds, as well as their 2 grandchildren ”. James Lewis, an employee who was working on the home, also died from gunshot wounds, according to sources.

Local media confirmed that the victims, according to the judicial authorities, are Robert Lesslie, from 70 years, and his wife, Barbara Lesslie, of 69, his two grandchildren, aged 9 to 5, and James Lewis, of 24.

Lesslie, according to county police, is a well-known doctor in the area. All of the deaths are being investigated as homicides, the York County Coroner’s Office said. The authorities have not revealed the name of the suspect or disclosed the reason for the event.

Agents were dispatched to a house near the number 4400 Marshall Road at in that city of Carolina after receiving a notice of a shooting in which several people were involved. It was then that the authorities discovered the victims.

These events add to a streak of shootings that have rocked the United States in recent weeks and caused the less 24 dead, ten of them in a supermarket in Boulder (Colorado), inside which a subject opened fire with an assault rifle.

Last 08 March eight people died by shots in several Asian massage parlors in Atlanta (Georgia).

And the past April 3, at least three people were killed and nine more were injured in two separate shootings in the US cities of Wilmington (North Carolina) and Tuscaloosa (Alabama).
