The Mar-a-Lago complex of the former president Donald Trump closed its dining room and suspended the services of the beach club for guests due to a COVID outbreak – 19 among “some” employees, according to an email sent to members on Friday afternoon and shared with CNN .

The email says the closure It was out of “a lot of caution.”

Banquet and event services remain open, says the email, adding: “We have already taken all response measures appropriate in accordance with CDC guidelines, including triggering comprehensive disinfection and cleaning of affected areas and all club facilities, and we will continue to improve environmental cleaning regimen. ”

News of the closure was first reported by The Associated Press .

The Trump Organization declined to say how many workers were affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

The Palm Beach club, which includes the former president’s home as well as restaurants and banquet facilities, has dozens of employees during the winter season.

This past weekend, Mar-a-Lago hosted two big fundraisers for a charity called Big Dog Ranch Rescue, including an event where Trump appeared, praising the group, reported The Washington Post.

Photos from those events show that few attendees wore masks .

Trump, who had COVID – 19 in the fall and was vaccinated earlier this year, also did not use a mask.

Two people familiar with the club said that Mar-a-Lago waiters wore masks during events. A spokesperson for the charity declined to comment on the event.
