Los Angeles County Public Health Officials have published a timeline for some high school students to are vaccinated against COVID – 19.
The County Director of Public Health Dr. Barbara Ferrer said Wednesday that all students over the age of 16 years should be eligible to receive the vaccine in May.
“They are now available to all Los Angeles County Schools teachers and staff and hopefully in May they will be available to all 16 years or more ”, said Dr. Ferrer referring to COVID vaccines – 19 during a virtual press conference.
Despite the county’s announcement, the vaccine eligibility guidelines of the Department California Public Health mentions have not yet been updated to reflect or mention vaccine eligibility for that youth group.
Preschool and elementary schools within the Los Angeles Unified School District are scheduled to reopen for in-person instruction in mid-April. Middle and high schools could restart in late April.
Earlier this week, officials of California expanded the list of people eligible for the coronavirus vaccine by another 4 to 6 million people.
People between 16 and 64 years who are severely disabled and those with health problems that put them at high risk can now make appointments to receive vaccines.
