I have to fight day by day. To achieve this I must train very hard, in the same way that ‘Canelo’ or Sugar Ray Leonard does, have the The same heart that Chávez had when he fought ”, the member of the so-called“ Canelo Team ”explained to ESPN.

Valdez, who changed coach in the 2018 to join the team of Eddy Reynoso , where he also shares a gym with Ryan García and Frank Sanchez, in addition to the aforementioned boxers, feels strengthened after he made this decision, since since then he has won four fights, promoted division and he maintains his undefeated brand.

“I feel like a fighter a little more complete, we keep learning different things in the gym. Not only with Eddy Reynoso, also I am a very studious fighter of boxing, I like to study other fights, my rivals , to my idols, I see fights of Erik Morales, Marco Antonio Barrera, Juan Manuel Márquez, Sugar Ray Leonard, Roberto Durán. They inspire me and I try to learn something from these fighters ”, he added.

Finally, on the advantage of training under the tutelage of Reynoso and with fighters as successful as his gym mates, he said that he enjoyed learning with them and sharing the same dream.

“I try to learn something from each one of them, each one contributes something different and I seek to learn from everyone, not just from Eddy Reynoso. We all have the dream of being one of the best pound for pound, being champions in the WBC, we must surround ourselves with people who have the same dreams , so we are all learning and growing ”, he concluded.

The Battle of Valdez against Miguel Berchelt will be this Saturday 20 February in the Las Vegas bubble , where the WBC belt held by “Alacrán”, who has six successful defenses, will be at stake.
