A man attacked his partner with machetes in Dominican Republic , and then took a poisonous substance and hanged himself thinking that he had killed her.
The events were reported early Wednesday, in the Helechal community of the El Factor municipality, María Trinidad Sánchez province.
The victim is confined in a delicate condition in a health center from the city of Nagua, according to media in the Caribbean country.
The couple had two children.
The suicide, identified as Rogelio Then , he would have undertaken it against the woman out of jealousy. Although the specific circumstances that led to the events have not been disclosed.
Upon realizing the crime he had committed and under the idea that the victim had died as a result of the machete blows, the aggressor took his life by ingesting a toxic substance called “Gramoxone” (herbicide) before hanging himself with a rope hanging from a tree in the courtyard of their residence.
La Central Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DICRIM) in coordination with members of the Public Ministry lead the investigation in this case.
