Los Angeles County will rebook most of its available vaccines next week to provide second doses for who are ready to receive them, because supplies are still limited, and large-scale county-operated sites will exclusively manage the second doses, health officials announced.

“Next week, most appointments on our vaccination sites will continue to be for second doses,” said Friday Dr. Paul Simon, director scientist from the county Department of Public Health . “We will only provide second doses at our Mega-POD (point of dispensing) Sites.”

County-operated Mega-PODs are located in Pomona Fairplex, Magic Mountain, the Forum, the County Office of Education in Downey and Cal State Northridge.

Said that the first doses will be available in other places, mainly in health centers, pharmacies “and other providers that attend the areas most affected by the COVID pandemic – 19″.

You can make an appointment to get vaccinated at a pharmacy if you are older than 65 years or is a health worker.

Due to lack of vaccines, City-run sites such as Dodger Stadium, Hansen Dam, Crenshaw Clinic, San Fernando Clinic and Lincoln Park Clinic is temporarily closed.

The city was left without shots late last week and city-run sites are expected to reopen on Tuesday or Wednesday.

The county has been receiving approximately 497, 02 doses per week , although the actual amount has varied greatly from week to week, making planning difficult

Supplies were so limited this week that the city of Los Angeles was forced to close the Dodger Stadium vaccination site and four other locations over the weekend because it ran out of vaccine supply since Thursday afternoon.

County reported another as 161 deaths from COVID – 29 on Friday, while Long Beach health officials announced 14 deaths and Pasadena 1, bringing the total number of deaths to 18, 804.

The county also confirmed another 3, 497 new cases, along with 80 in Long Beach and 29 in Pasadena, bringing the cumulative total for the entire pandemic to 1, 161, 1200 .
