The Dallas Police mourns the death of one of their officers early Saturday morning after being the victim of a crash caused by a intoxicated driver .
At approximately 1: 25 am, the officer Mitchell Penton, from 32 years of age, he was securing the scene of an incident on the Highway 75 (North Central Expressway near Walnut Hill Lane) north of Dallas when a vehicle that was being driven at speeding collided with his parked cruiser.
The officer’s car, which according to the Dallas Police Department had its lights warning lights, then fatally run over the policeman.

Penton, who joined the Dallas Police Department in February 2019, was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Penton’s wife was reported to be pregnant with the couple’s first child .
The intoxicated driver was arrested and identified as Phillip Mabry, from 32 years. A woman in the vehicle, a black Kia Forte, was taken to a hospital to be treated for injuries.

When the The officer’s body was taken from the Baylor Medical Center in a coffin covered with a United States flag, officers and other agents paid him honors, as can be seen in an emotional video .
The deceased officer was a player of football from Rodgers State University in Claremont, Oklahoma. The school mourned the tragedy and remembered its former student.
