Although they have advanced with the economic stimulus package against COVID – 19 , there is still a long way to go to congressmen to complete the integration of the plan.

The following steps will continue on 22 February, as the House and Senate have scheduled a “period of state work” , that is to say, rest from their work in Washington and, therefore, from the integration of the $ 1.9 billion package dollars .

The last Thursday, the Ways and Means Committee of the House of Representatives, chaired by Richard Neal (Massachusetts), voted to approve a portion of the plan, in a vote of 24 to 18.

The comprehensive bill will include the $ 1 stimulus check, 400, grants for businesses, state and local governments, schools, and funds to fight the pandemic.

It will be voted “in parts”, since the Senate will apply the Budget Reconciliation process to advance with the package with a simple majority.

According to the president of the camera, Nancy Pelosi (California), the aid plan will be approved on a late February, but if that doesn’t happen, the deadline will be 14 March, which is when federal unemployment benefits end under the aid package approved in December of $ 900, 000 million dollars.

The Senate Budget Committee, chaired by Bernie Sanders (Vermont), continue with package integration.

Among the good news so far, is that the Chamber approved the increase in the salary at the national level to $ 15 dollars, a breakthrough promoted by the Progressive Caucus.

If the plan established by Pelosi is continued, the direct distribution of funds to families would be the second week of March, considering the approval process in the Chamber, then the Senate and the signing of the law by the president Joe Biden .

Paper checks and Economic Impact Payment (EIP) cards may begin shipping on 15 March and prepaid cards in the week of 22 of March.
