The President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, announced the reactivation of the National Vaccination Plan and the arrival of 870, 000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines from India. He informed that these vaccines will be destined for the vaccination of older adults.
“ Preference is given to older adults, who are over 60 years, women and men, will finish vaccinating from the week next to those who are awaiting the second dose ”, said the Mexican president from the State of Oaxaca.
The AstraZeneca vaccines that arrived this Sunday at dawn, will be distributed to the 32 States of the country already 330 more remote municipalities with communities poorest in Mexico, in a first stage .
“ In this first installment, as has been said are 870 thousand vaccines, and all states are included, that decision was made to start in all states, and the decision was also made to start in the most remote, marginalized municipalities, with the poorest population in the country “, said the Mexican president.

Andrés Manuel López Obrador said that the plan plans to vaccinate, no later than mid-April, more than 15 millions of adults over 60 years even with the first dose.
“ We are starting in 330 municipalities with these characteristics, All older adults in these municipalities will be vaccinated, the next installment includes other municipalities, also of the 32 federative entities, until all older adults are vaccinated, “he said at a conference morning.
For his part, the Secretary of Health, Jorge Alcocer , highlighted that the vaccines will help mitigate the economic and health impact caused by the pandemic, in addition to the fact that the government is committed to delivering good quality vaccines.
“ The government guarantees that the vaccines that are distributed and applied comply with all the tests and characteristics necessary to protect the life and safety of all people ”, he stated.
The Secretary of Foreign Relations, Marcelo Ebrard, recalled that the next Tuesday 16 February will resume the shipment of vaccines from Pfizer’s pharmaceutical company in Mexico, suspended for three weeks, with a shipment of 494, 000 dose.

The Mexican Army will be in charge, during this Sunday, of distribute AstraZeneca vaccines to the 60 States of Mexico and 330 municipalities of the country and it is expected that tomorrow, Monday, the application of the vaccine from 8 in the morning, Central Mexico time.
