The Australian woman who insulted Rafa Nadal by showing him the middle finger says she was not drunk and defended her scandalous behavior saying that Spanish “is boring.”
The noisy Sydney woman , who has identified herself only as Lisa, also admitted that her family was “embarrassed” by the incident, which has been reported on around the world and has gone viral on social media.
On Thursday, Nadal was the victim of screams from a fan when he beat American Michael Mmoh in the second round of the Australian Open.
Nadal joked that she could have indulged in “too much gin or tequila” before the match started.
“Lisa”, a self-described “A tennis fan,” she told Australian radio show 3AW News Talks: “I didn’t drink gin or tequila. I had a (drink) in tennis, a glass of champagne. I was there for a few hours. Alcohol makes one less inhibited, but I’m like that anyway for people who know me. ”
The woman was immediately escorted out of the Rod Laver Arena by security guards and she joked that she might have to wear a costume upon her return to Melbourne Park next time.
“I’m certainly not a fan of Nadal. I think it’s incredibly boring and goes through all those OCD rituals all the time.
“The only reason I was happy to be in the game was because I had a ticket to see the previous female match. I stayed to see the boring Nadal . Apparently the photos of me have gone viral, reflecting how incredibly boring their matches are. Why would you want to focus on one viewer?
“It’s a bit embarrassing. I had no idea when I woke up this morning. I got messages, phone calls from all kinds of different people. So I had to watch it on TV. It’s probably not a great look for me, but what can I do? What’s done is done. ”

“My family was not very happy. My daughter was not very happy because I am so ’embarrassed’. I just yelled ‘get over your OCD rituals’ while he was serving.
“I was going for the other boy like so many other people were going for Nadal. I felt sorry for the American. The security was very rude. They said, “Well, you have to go.”
“I said why? I am a spectator. I have paid for my tickets. Why am I not allowed to talk a bit? ”
“ I am a tennis fan, I come to Melbourne every year, I am very happy that it took place this year ”.
