This week the first two cases of the South African strain of coronavirus were detected in California , specifically in the San Francisco Bay area, according to information recently released by Governor Gavin Newsom.

California has been the epicenter of the coronavirus in the United States and has accumulated more deaths and more infections than any other American territory, and even the virus would be present with up to four of its different variations , according to previously released information.

The two cases of the South African strain were detected in the area of the Bay last Wednesday, specifically in the Alameda and Santa Clara counties , as reported by Gavin Newsom.

With the confirmation of cases with the South African strain, the state of the west coast would have up to four types of COVID – 19 in its territory: the conventional, South African, British and, according to recent studies by Los Angeles specialists, a newly discovered Californian variant.

So far a total has been found of 159 cases of the British strain in the state, two of the South African strain and millions of the conventional virus, but the new Californian “variant” would have been detected in 44% of the cases studied in the month of January, according to specialists.
