In a matter of weeks, the COVID pandemic – 19 devastated the Guerrero family, from whom he snatched the matriarch of the home and two of their adult children. Now completely devastated, they enlist your help with unexpected funeral expenses. Two accounts on the GoFundMe site have been opened to help them: In Memory of Raúl Guerrero ; and Raul Guerrero Family .
Inés Castillo passed away at 70 years of age, on 30 from December. Alejandro Guerrero, his son of 48 years lost his life on 16 from January; while the youngest of his sons Raúl Guerrero of 48, died on February 3.
“The first person in the family who got sick was my mother-in-law Inés. She began to feel unwell on She complained that her body ached and when she was short of breath, they took her to the hospital ”, says Aída Cuamatzi, Raúl’s wife.
“I don’t know if my mother-in-law had any chronic conditions. What I do know is that I had months with gum problems. ”
Everyone got infected
Inés passed away on 30 from December.
“At my in-laws’ house in the Exposition Park area of Los Angeles, about 8 people live. They were all infected with COVID, but she is the only one who died. We live in an apartment that is part of the property, but it is independent ”, he explains.
Alejandro lived apart in another place, but to visit his mother. “He began to feel ill at the end of December, and died on 16 January in the hospital. ”
The matriarch of the home, Inés, is survived by her husband Raúl Guerrero Sr .; two daughters, Martha and Rocío; four granddaughters and two grandsons. To his brother-in-law Alejandro, his two daughters Beatriz of 24 years and Mary of 21 years.
Aída talks about how both she and her husband Raúl fell ill with COVID. “ He suffered from diabetes and a chronic cough. I noticed a deeper cough in her days before they confirmed she had COVID. He got a lot of fatigue and a fever of more than 100 ″ .
Without anything to do
The recent history of his mother’s death from coronavirus made Raúl feel very afraid of being hospitalized. “ When on January 8 he could hardly breathe, he was taken to the hospital. ‘I’m going now. I don’t know what’s going to happen, ‘he told me when he said goodbye. A day later they intubated him, and we didn’t speak again ”.
Aída was attacked by COVID very lightly. “I had a stomach ache. I felt very tired, but a week later, I recovered. ”
She talks about how when Raúl was in the hospital, there were days when His doctor informed him that he was stable, but one day they told him that his kidneys were destroyed and that his body no longer resisted.
” When they told me if I authorized resuscitation in the event of cardiac arrest, we decided that it was time to let him rest in peace, ”she says sadly, still not understanding how her husband was infected. “He protected himself at 100% when he went to work.”
Excellent father
Ricardo Hernández, president of the Parents Association of the Equitas Academy Charter school in Pico-Union, confesses that he began to cry when he found out that COVID not only took his friend Raúl but his mother already his brother within a month.
“He loved his family very much. I remember once when we were part of the school’s parent board, he was president and I was vice president, I asked him how it was possible that he worked so hard, and still had time to spend with his daughters, take them to school and pick them up ” .
Raúl shared that he worked at night in security to take care of his girls during the day when his wife went to work, to help them with their homework, watching them grow up and getting ready to go to university.
“I want my daughters to go to university, graduate and have good jobs so they don’t have to deal with two days of work like me. At that moment I knew that he was a very special dad like no other, and that his dream was going to come true one day. ”
Ricardo described Raúl as a very demanding president of the Parents Association, but in return he was very collaborative and fought for what he believed in. “I wouldn’t take ‘no’ for an answer.”

Raul is survived by his wife and two daughters, Celeste de 10 years old and Natalie 7 years old. He and Aida had been married for 19 years. Raúl was born in the municipality of Amecameca in the state of Mexico. He earned his living as a security agent.
“ I hid nothing from the girls. I told them in a simple way that their father was no longer with us, that he fought to the best of his ability against the virus, but his body couldn’t take it anymore ”, says Aida.
She confesses that with the death of her husband, she has become the main supporter of her daughters. “I am very concerned about his future,” he confides.
