President Joe Biden does not believe that his predecessor Donald Trump should receive classified intelligence reports , as other former presidents have normally done. Biden says that his position is based on the “irresponsible behavior” of the Republican and assures that it is not related to “the insurrection” of January 6.
“ I prefer not speculate out loud , “Biden said in an interview on ‘CBS Evening News.’ “I just think there is no need for him to have the intelligence reports. What is the value of giving an intelligence report? What impact does it have at all, apart from the fact that he could slip and say something? ”He pointed out.
But the president’s statements did not seem to have an immediate effect on the House’s policy White On Saturday, press secretary Jen Psaki said that “the president had expressed his concern that former President Trump will receive access to sensitive intelligence (information) , but he also has a deep reliance on their own intelligence team to make a decision on how to provide intelligence information should former President Trump ever request a briefing. ”
Traditionally, former presidents request and receive intelligence reports. Psaki herself told CNN on Thursday that “the intelligence community supports requests for intelligence reports from former presidents and will review any incoming requests, as it always has.”
A A senior administration official had previously told the aforementioned chain that Trump has not yet requested any petition .
