President Joe Biden reversed the order of the former president Donald Trump to ban transgender people from serving in the Army.

The democrat signed an Executive Order that asks the Department of Defense to accept applications from “any qualified American” to serve in the Armed Forces.

“The President Biden believes that gender identity should not be an obstacle to military service and that the strength of the United States is found in its diversity ”, indicates justice.

The Biden Administration indicates that the new measure is a way to recognize the “core values” of the US

Among the justifications is a study requested by the Department of Defense in 2016, where it was “found that allowing transgender people to serve openly in the military… would have sunshine or a minimal impact on military preparation and health care costs “, contrary to the assertions of former President Trump.

The new order asks the Army to prevent” the Involuntary separations, layoffs and denial of continuation of service on the basis of gender identity. ”

Also requires a report in 60 days on the implementation of the directives and policies included in the Executive Order.

Former President Trump defended in 2019 his decision to ban transgender people from the Army .

“These people take massive amounts of drugs, they have to do it, and it is not allowed in the Army” , it was justified.
