Google will support the efforts of President-elect Joe Biden to pass a new immigration law in the United States . The technology giant reported that it will support to pay the application fees of immigrants seeking legal employment under a government program.

Google reported that it will help 500 young immigrants seeking employment under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Google and other employers have criticized President Donald Trump for undermining companies’ ability to hire foreign-born workers .

Biden said last week that he would “immediately” propose an unspecified immigration law to Congress after taking office on 20 from January. The Democratic Party will control Congress, which increases the chance that their ideas will become law .

Kent Walker, Google’s Senior Vice President, through a blog post, made it clear that the company will support the efforts of Congress and the incoming government to pass a Comprehensive immigration reform that improves employment-based visa programs that strengthen US competitiveness, provide greater security to immigrant workers and employers.

Walker added that the philanthropic arm of Google will donate 250, 000 dollars to the United We Dream organization, that helps immigrants living in the country illegally, after arriving in the country during their childhood, to obtain work permits and avoid deportation through the DACA program.

A court must decide soon if it pauses renewals and applications for those permits, Walker said. Its beneficiaries are known as “Dreamers”. Google has partnered with other big tech companies in the past when making statements on immigration policy.
