USCIS alerts change for expired green cards

There is news for immigrants whose green card has expired.

The Office of Citizenship and Immigration Services ( USCIS ) modified the document that supports the validity of the card for 12 additional months.

The above was done by replacing the “adhesive seal” issued to the legal permanent residents (LPR) to extend the validity of your document.

“When presented together with the permanent resident card, the revised notice of Form I – 797 will extend the validity of the permanent resident card for 12 months from the date on the front ”, indicates the agency.

This document is only temporary, until USCIS issues the new identification.

“This change guarantees that LPRs who have a permanent resident card that has recently expired have identity documentation, employment authorization and authorization to return to the United States after a temporary trip abroad, “he said in a statement.

Residents who do not yet have an appointment to take their biometric data will no longer have to visit an assistance center to obtain temporary evidence of stay status in the US

Those immigrants who already have a scheduled appointment will receive an adhesive stamp of validity extension, indicated the agency.

People who send Form I – 90 to replace their “green card” they will receive the revision notice with the new seal within 7 to 10 days, the authority stated.
