The United States Capitol Police announced Thursday night that an officer injured during the violent assault on Congress by attackers loyal to President Trump died from his injuries.
“At approximately 9 o’clock: 30 pm tonight (Jan 7 2021), United States Capitol Police Officer, Brian D. Sicknick, passed away from injuries sustained while on duty ” said in a statement the United States Capitol Police.
“Officer Sicknick was responding to the riots on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at the United States Capitol and he was injured while physically interacting with the protesters. He returned to his division office and collapsed ”, says the statement.
The Capitol Police reported that Sicknick was taken to a local hospital and that his death will be investigated by the Homicide Section of the Metropolitan Police Department, the United States Capitol Police and “our federal partners” .
This official confirmation follows a previous report from the EFE Agency where CNN was denied and maintained that an officer of the Capitol Police had not died , and that The Opinion reported incorrectly based on information from the EFE Agency.

The death of the officer ial Sicknick on Thursday came after DC officials said four people had been killed in the assault on the Capitol, including a woman who was shot inside the building by a Capitol police officer.
Sicknick was one of dozens of police officers who were injured while trying to control the mob of pro-Trump extremists who temporarily halted the congressional vote to certify the victory of President-elect Joe Biden.
