WASHIGTON – The Capitol Police denied this Thursday that one of its agents died as a result of the injuries suffered the day before during the assault by followers of the outgoing president of the United States, Donald Trump , to the headquarters of Congress, as the CNN channel had stated.

“The media reports on the death of an agent of the United States Capitol Police (USCP) are not accurate. Although some agents were injured and hospitalized yesterday, no USCP agent has died ”, said this body in a statement.

He also requested that the privacy of its agents and their families is respected, adding that it will inform in due time what happens to its members.

Previously, CNN had indicated that an agent of the Capitol Police had died this Thursday as a result of injuries sustained during the assault.

At least four people lost their lives on Wednesday during those incidents that occurred after a power outage. the congressmen’s meeting to ratify the victory of the Democrat Joe Biden in the November presidential elections.

The four deceased identified by the authorities are protesters: Ashli ​​Babbitt, a woman of 35 years resident in San Diego (California, USA); Benjamin Phillips, from 50 years and Ri (Pennsylvania); Kevin Greeson, from 55 years, from Athens (Alabama); and Rosanne Boyland, from 34 years, from Kennesaw (Georgia).

This was announced by the head of the Washington DC Metropolitan Police Department, Robert Contee III , in a press conference in which he did not give details about the specific circumstances of the deaths, although three of them were due to a “medical emergency” and another due to shooting.

That last was the case of Babbitt, the San Diego woman who died after being shot by a U.S. Capitol Police officer, according to a statement from that body, which is exclusively responsible for the security of the building itself and the surrounding areas, owned by the Government.

“Medical assistance was provided immediately and the woman was transferred to the hospital, where more later he succumbed to his injuries days, ”added the Capitol Police.
