The Democratic leaders of Congress called this Thursday for the immediate removal of the president Donald Trump for having incited the violent attack on the Capitol that took place a day earlier in the middle of the session to certify the electoral victory of the president-elect Joe Biden .

The President House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi and Senator Chuck Schumer asked Vice President Mike Pence to invoke the 25 , which would allow him and the cabinet to seize the presidency to Trump .

Pelosi and Schumer warned that if Pence does not agree, the Democrats are prepared to present their second impeachment against Trump .

“Although there are only 13 days left, any day can be a horror show for Esta two United, “said Pelosi, who referred to Trump’s actions Wednesday as” seditious act . ”

The lower house speaker’s plan was announced during an extraordinary press conference held on Capitol Hill hours after a crowd of Trump supporters stormed to force in the building and delay confirmation in Congress of Biden’s victory. Speaking to reporters, Pelosi addressed Cabinet members by name and asked why they did not intervene.

Are you willing to say that during the next 13 days this dangerous man can assault our democracy ?, asked Pelosi to Trump’s cabinet.

The Californian Democrat also said that she hopes to have at the end of this Thursday a response from Pence on whether they intend to invoke the Amendment 25. She and Schumer tried to call the current vice president directly, but there were 20 minutes in line and he did not answer.

The representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez had already requested impeachment on Wednesday afternoon. Also Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar even drafted the articles by which the outgoing president could be prosecuted.

It is unclear if Democrats can act so quickly to introduce the impeachment against Trump. There is no precedent for a Senate trial of a former public official. Nor is it certain that the Democrats can carry out such a complicated and tense process in the 13 days of mandate that remain from Trump.
