Los Angeles Latina Nurse Dies From Coronavirus Complications Days After Giving Birth

A young Latina from Northridge who was pregnant and who was also a nurse in a nursing home in Van Nuys, died days after the birth of her sixth child after suffering complications due to the coronavirus.

At the end of last December, despite being pregnant, Ashley Gomez 30 years kept her job as a nursing home nurse in Van Nuys when she contracted COVID – 19, according to her husband told ABC .

Wilber Gómez told the aforementioned channel that Ashley she began to feel short of breath, but she asked them to keep her isolated at home to combat the disease, however, after a few days the young woman began to have more severe symptoms such as fever and cough, and due to her condition of pregnancy had to be admitted at Kaiser Permanente headquarters in Woodland Hills.

While there, things got worse and they had to perform a caesarean section to bring their sixth child into the world. After the operation Ashley had to be isolated and connected to a ventilator, but unfortunately she died a few days later, on January 3.

According to the account of her husband Wilber to the referred local media, the young Hispanic died without even being able to hold her newborn son in her arms.

The family of the young woman who leaves a total of six children, two of another father who also recently died of a heart attack, had created a campaign of GoFundMe from 27 to cover Ashley’s medical expenses , but on the same page they announced the death of the young woman due to complications from the coronavirus.

“ She tried very hard to help us at school. He tried hard to give us everything. And he worked hard to give you the best Christmas gifts , ”his 9-year-old son Jacob Gómez told ABC.
