“It's a mental health problem”: stranger hit an elderly priest in the New York subway

Frederick Kurr, a Catholic deacon in the Bronx (NYC) of 74, was the victim of a man who said he “wanted to hit someone” inside a Metro station.

Kurr, who serves at “Our Lady of Mount Carmel” church in the Belmont neighborhood, I was trying to get into Kingsbridge Road station around 10: 10 am Tuesday, when he had trouble swiping his MetroCard and a suspect, walking the other way, hit him Suddenly in the face, according to the police and sources.

“Don’t scream”, the attacker allegedly told the victim when he asked for help. “I just wanted to hit someone,” he added.

The aggressor then left and the septuagenarian had swelling and pain. Contacted by phone, the deacon’s daughter, Heidi Kurr, said she is “very worried” about her father. They were checking him at the clinic to determine if he had internal bleeding.

“Getting punched for no reason … that’s sad,” he told New York Post. “It’s crazy because they are doing this to all the people,” added the daughter of the victim. “It is a mental health problem. It could be that they are not receiving their medication, and staying home, being isolated, could worsen their pre-existing condition.”

On the eve, a man of 29 was arrested as suspected of beating women on streets and a subway station in Brooklyn.
