Washington Hispanic:

The democrat Jon Ossoff won the second round of elections for a seat for the state of Georgia in the federal Senate.

His victory gives Democrats control of the Senate for the start of the presidency of Democrat Joe Biden. Democrats needed to win both Georgia runoffs on Tuesday to win a Senate majority.

Ossoff of 33 years, defeated Republican David Perdue, of 71 years, who held the bench for the last six years and had strong support from President Donald Trump.

Trump had urged Republicans in Georgia to flock to the polls to support Republican Senate candidates.

Biden participated in a political rally Monday to urge his coalition to vote for Ossoff, a former legislative aide and journalist.

In the other race, the Democratic Reverend Raphael Warnock defeated Republican Senator Kelly Loeffler.

With both Democratic victories, the seats in the Senate will be divided 50 – 50 between both parties, but whoever occupies the vice president The nation’s company casts the tiebreaker vote and it will be Democrat Kamala Harris.

With Democratic control of the House of Representatives and now in the Senate, it will be harder for Republicans to obstruct Biden’s agenda, as well as who the president nominates for his cabinet or as judges.
