Americans who filed their tax returns with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for the last few years without the mediation of tax preparation companies and requesting the disbursement of funds through direct deposit, they are less likely to experience delays on the arrival of the second coronavirus stimulus check .

These individuals will first receive the checks for the second round of payments under the Coronavirus Relief and Response Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2021 approved last month in the United States Congress, as indicated by the IRS.

Since before the authorities confirmed the start of the distribution process for the “Economic Impact Payments” last week, as the IRS had already warned that among the first groups of beneficiaries who would receive the d In other words, there were the taxpayers who had provided their bank details to the agency.

Also, the beneficiaries of government programs such as Social Security whose bank account information is available to the IRS are also among the priority groups that will be paid automatically without the need for further action .

Delays for those who used TurboTax and H&R Block programs

An issue that complicates the situation for some beneficiaries is having used tax preparation companies to process their returns.

Some clients of firms like TurboTax and H&R Block have complained in the past days of not receiving the money for the second stimulus check. These companies have indicated through social networks that the problem is due to the fact that the IRS deposited the funds in the temporary accounts of the intermediaries and not in those of the taxpayers.

In the case of H&R Block, the agency promised to transfer the funds to individual accounts by the end of Monday. However, it is not clear the status of the redirection of money to the corresponding accounts.

At the moment, the IRS has limited itself to saying that those who do not receive the payment that corresponds to them for the 15 of this month, must claim it as a “Recovery Refund Credit” on the next tax return.
