Open the door of fridge and digging inside, that’s a trivial gesture. Except in Brooklyn, where Allifer and Jes, members of a collective born during the demonstrations Black Lives Matters , have set up a solidarity refrigerator. Installed directly in the street, it is open to everyone freely and free of charge. The goal: to help the inhabitants of the district, especially from the African-American community, to obtain fresh products.
This “community” of the fridge, the two young women make it live with little: a power outlet, cleaning, and food collected via donation boxes placed in surrounding businesses. Dozens of refrigerators of this type have been installed in the United States since the beginning of the coronavirus crisis , and could still swarm. Does that inspire you?
