Hundreds of supporters of President Donald Trump have gathered in Washington, DC since Tuesday to protest the results of the presidential elections of 2020, during a march organized for Wednesday 6 January, when Congress meets to certify the victory of President-elect Joe Biden .

Hundreds of people had gathered at Freedom Plaza at 3 p.m. Tuesday, some in bulletproof vests, walkie-talkies -talkies and other military-style equipment, to support Trump and protest for the election result , while the police and Secret Service monitored the area, reported The Washington Post.

The rallies took place in the center of the capital for several hours. as and at night clashes with the police were reported.

Trump praised the protesters in a series of tweets Tuesday night, repeating unsubstantiated claims that the presidential election had been “stolen.”

“Washington is being inundated with people who don’t want a victory election is stolen by emboldened radical left democrats. Our country has had enough, they won’t take it anymore! We heard it (and love it) from the Oval Office. . MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! ”Trump wrote.

Trump also announced that he plans to speak at a rally at the Ellipse on Wednesday morning.

The rally called by Trump made local authorities and law enforcement brace for possible violent street clashes.

Many businesses in downtown Washington boarded their windows, fearful that the The protest could lead to riots in May and June, when dozens of businesses were vandalized.

The protests coincide with Congress vote to be held on Wednesday and that it is expected to certify the results of the Electoral College in favor of Joe Biden , which Trump continues to question.
