As part of the celebration of the Three Kings Day, which takes place every year on January 6, the Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural Center partnered with Univision New York to deliver gifts to families and children Latinos residing in Baruch Houses, one of NYCHA’s public housing complexes.
Univision New York through its community outreach effort Univision New York Contigo (Univision New York With You) provided the toys.
Due to the pandemic, most Latino families are struggling to overcome the difficulties of this crisis. Therefore, the celebration of traditions becomes more important than ever to reinforce the sense of community and express solidarity. That is why Clemente and Univision are joining forces to extend the annual tradition of the Three Kings Day of the cultural center, which this year celebrates its 20th anniversary.
” Against all odds, Clemente and the Society of the Educational Arts / SEA Theater will continue our tradition of celebrating Three Kings Day. Although this year’s edition will be different, it will be safe and magical. It is our commitment to children, our traditions and culture ”, expressed Manuel Morán, executive director of Teatro SEA and Libertad Guerra, executive director of the Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural and Educational Center. Despite the COVID pandemic – 19, the group aims to reach as many children and families as previous years, as it is the only celebration of Three Kings Day in Lower Manhattan.
“In a year like this, where many Latinos and people of color have been more affected than other New York City residents, the Univision New York mission of informing and empowering the community through the efforts of Univision New York Contigo is more relevant than ever, ”said Roberto Yañez, president and CEO of Univision New York. “Working with The Clemente to bring Christmas spirit and joy to the residents of Baruch Houses is one way we can continue to support and serve our community.”
Los Tres Reyes will head to Baruch Houses, NYCHA’s largest development in Manhattan, for a special appearance and gifts to Latino residents. In addition, a special segment will be broadcast through the SEA Theater Facebook page to bring the magic of the day to the homes of thousands of families.
The celebration of The Clemente and the Society of the Educational Arts / Teatro SEA can be seen at 4 pm on the Facebook page of the Teatro BE: https: // www. facebook.com/teatroseanyc.
