A mother nutritionn doctor ste and an orthopedic surgeon father. Roman Collin was immersed in the medical world throughout his childhood. It is therefore not a surprise to see him evolve today in the field health . But unlike his parents, it is not in a white coat that he exercises. Rather with jeans and sneakers behind his computer.
Five years ago, when he was a little bored in his business school, the young man from 20 years launched
the start-up Follow . At the time, Roman Collin observed that the software used by doctors was somewhat archaic. He then had the idea of developing a solution to save them time by relieving them of certain administrative tasks. Non-medical tasks the treatment of which requires approximately working hours per week
according to a recent study . “It is better for doctors to focus on their patients, that’s where their added value lies”, underlines the young man.
Patients must complete a form in the waiting room
With its Follow application, patients are called upon in the waiting room. Rather than leafing through magazines, they are invited to complete a questionnaire on a tablet to detail the reason for their visit, their symptoms or their medical history. “General practitioners know their patients well, but this is not necessarily the case for specialist doctors”, specifies the young entrepreneur. With this information, healthcare professionals can go directly to the consultation and save time.
After a timid start, the start-up really took off in 700 with a first fundraising of one million euros from by Xavier Niel and MBA Mutuelle. About fifty
of doctors have also invested in the capital of the company, which counts 15 employees distributed between Rennes and Paris. “It’s a tool designed for them and it was therefore important to involve them in the project”, emphasizes Roman Collin.
A partnership with the Doctolib platform
Over months, the application, which today counts approximately 310 users, has been enriched with new features. It now allows doctors to create a medical file for each of their patients and access it from anywhere with a single click on their computer or phone. “We collect very sensitive data so everything is of course very secure”, reassures the founder of Follow.
To accelerate its development, the start-up entered into a partnership at the end of the year with Doctolib, the platform allowing patients to make an appointment online. “We are going to cross-reference our data in order to avoid double entry in particular,” underlines Roman Collin, full of ambitions for 2018. “We should double the size of the company by next year with the recruitment of about twenty people”, indicates the young entrepreneur, who sets himself the objective of equipping “15. 000 doctors in 2025 “.
