Washington Hispanic:

President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration will include a “virtual parade across the United States” consistent with crowd limits during the coronavirus era, organizers announced Sunday.

After the swearing-in ceremony on Inauguration Day on 20 on the West Front of the United States Capitol , Biden and his wife, First Lady Jill Biden, will join Vice President-elect Kamala Harris and her husband for a socially estranged Pass in Review on the opposite side of the Capitol. Those are military traditions where Biden will review military troop readiness.

Biden will also receive a traditional presidential escort with representatives from all branches of the military from the street 15 in Washington to the White House. That, says the Presidential Inaugural Committee, will also be socially estranged, while “providing the American people and world with historic images of the President-elect walking into the White House without drawing large crowds.

Workers began dismantling an inaugural parade by checking the booth in front of the White House as Biden’s transition team continues to prepare for the mostly virtual festivities. Accordingly, organizers also said they will host a nationwide virtual parade to “celebrate America’s heroes, highlight Americans from all walks of life in different states and regions, and reflect on diversity, the nation’s heritage and resilience as a new American era begins. ”

The parade event will be televised and feature“ diverse and dynamic ”performances in communities across the country, promised the inaugural committee. Participants will be announced in the coming weeks.

“We are excited about the possibilities and opportunities this moment presents to allow all Americans to participate in the sacred inaugural traditions of our country.” said Maju Varghese, Executive Director of the Presidential Inaugural Committee, said in a statement.
