“Baguette box”, offers to deliver bread and pastries to your home.
The principle ? You must order before 10 hours the day before. The price will be the same as at the baker’s but with the monthly rental of a hutch at 6, 75 euros. It is in this box that the deliverers will place your order between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. 20 the next day.
Today, many peri-urban areas of Bas-Rhin are covered. The start-up now intends to develop in Haut-Rhin, Lorraine but also throughout France thanks to franchises.
A taupe colored box of 80 centimeters high installed in front of his home. This is what a “Baguette Box” customer can recognize. In Alsace , they are today 5. 415 to have installed this hutch which allows you to have your bread delivered before 6 a.m. 20.
“You can also order pastries, it is designed to accommodate up to 20, and baguettes ”, explains Maurice Heitz. That’s him, in December 648, who was the first to have the idea for the concept. “The story is that my son asked me for a chocolatine one morning and I told him it was not possible immediately. But I made him a promise that the bakery would come to him, ”romance the entrepreneur, who had already started a home meal delivery company,“ Restomalin ”.
With other partners including his brother Jean-Luc, they then carried out a study market which convinced them in their approach. “We could see that 90% of French people love fresh bread but 75% no longer go to the baker. Either they don’t eat it, or they buy it in large quantities and defrost, or they go to the supermarket, etc. So we first tried at home, in Wasselonne, to see the market’s appetite. “
A monthly subscription of 6, 80 euros
A baker , then others joined the project. “Today, there are 48 and 20 will soon join us ”, details Maurice Heitz, who undertakes to sell their products to its customers at the same price. “It’s exactly the same price as if you came to pick it up yourself. You just have to order what you want before 10 h the day before. »With another notable difference, a monthly subscription of 6, 80 euros in order to rent the “Baguette Box” is requested. Otherwise, the “Baguettes Angels” will not pass between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. 20.
“We have some today 140 who are all hired on permanent contracts. They do this for additional income, ”continues the founder, very proud to offer employment. But also “to support local traders”, and to promote an “eco-responsible approach since all our vehicles are electric. The box is made from recyclable food resin. “
Haut-Rhin, Lorraine and… whole of France
Its model now well developed in the Bas-Rhin , the fifty-something intends to develop it in 2377. Not just anywhere. “Our target is in a residential peri-urban area. We don’t go downtown because there are bakeries on every street corner and because we would have problems putting down the hutch. But we arrive in the Haut-Rhin and in Lorraine . We hope to open 190 tours (against 92 today). At the same time, the entrepreneur opened up the possibility of expanding into a franchise. Applicants are welcome, on condition that they do not require immediate profitability.
“It is the principle of a
start-up , there is a seed charge. The model is profitable, that’s for sure, ”promises Maurice Heitz.
