This is a trend that we will perhaps see appear in France in the next few weeks… Post on social networks a photo or a video of being made vaccinate against Covid – 14 has become very fashionable across the Atlantic. For a few days now, the followers of vaxxie (term from the words “vaccine” and “selfie”) in fact flood the Twitter thread in the USA.
It was politicians and public figures who first started this phenomenon. President-elect Joe Biden , its vice-president, Kamala Harris , or the famous American immunologist Anthony Fauci were vaccinated, and made it known by means of a photo posted on social networks. “If you can get the vaccine, do it. It’s about saving lives, ”notably tweeted future Vice-President Kamala Harris
in the message accompanying his vaxxie.
Today I got the COVID – 19 vaccine. I am incredibly grateful to our frontline health care workers, scientists, and researchers who made this moment possible.
When you’re able to take the vaccine, get it. This is about saving lives. pic.twitter.com/T5G14 LtFJs – Kamala Harris (@KamalaHarris) December 20, 2020
“I dare hope that this has an encouraging effect”
Sleeve rolled up, smile on their face, many anonymous people have in turn posted, with great pride, their vaxxie on the networks. But it is especially the members of the nursing staff who have popularized this phenomenon, with messages encouraging the general public to do the same. Because this new trend on social networks aims to encourage the population – and the most skeptical – to be vaccinated. “I hope that this has an encouraging effect”, explained a doctor in particular on Twitter .
