Drug traffickers thought they had devised the ideal way to ship their merchandise by hiding it in religious figures, but no they expected that there would be a routine review by the National Guard (GN) and the shipment would be discovered.

The events occurred on October 2 in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, as part of the National Public Security Strategy and the Federal Government’s Zero Impunity Policy, in a parcel company , and were informed through a statement by the federal agency..

Elements of the National Guard arrived at the scene and requested permission from those in charge to carry out a routine review, once they obtained it they began their work. Through an X-ray machine they detected a suspicious package that had as destination a city abroad, and the equipment used showed a positive result for the presence of a prohibited organic substance.

With the support of security employees from the private company, the National Guard personnel proceeded to thoroughly review the package that, inside, carried different ceramic figures

.

Given the possible presence of the narcotic, the area where the package with the irregular substance was located was secured and the agent was notified of the Federal Public Ministry. The area was cordoned off to prevent access by outsiders, while specialized experts arrived.

The box with the figures containing the illicit material was made available at the delegation of the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) in Tamaulipas, where the exact weight and type of seized narcotic will be determined, to continue with the corresponding investigation.

It is not the first time that drug traffickers have tried to use the faith of several Mexicans to pass drugs within religious figures believing that they will not be discovered, however, the operations implemented by security forces of the different government orders have frustrated their plans.
