Puerto Vallarta is a Mexican tourist destination famous for its beautiful beaches, but now it is also the main center of operations of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).
The paradisiacal site of Jalisco -which for years has been the place that national and foreign tourists choose to vacation- is being used by the criminal organization to launder income from drug trafficking through nightclubs, bars and restaurants .
Also is the place where the CJNG manages extortions and drug trafficking, this according to information provided by the United States Department of the Treasury.
The expansion of the criminal group in Puerto Vallarta brings with it another problem: the increase in violence. The main operators of the cartel have been involved in several murders that have occurred in this area of the Mexican Pacific. In addition to this, they intimidate and extort legitimate businesses.
The paradisiacal port of Jalisco is the financial bastion of the criminal group headed by “Los Cuinis”, formed by the brothers-in-law and the wife of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes “El Mencho”
, who are surnamed González Valencia.
Also is the point of arrival for several drugs from Central and South America, as well as Asian countries . The drug produced in the mountains arrives there, especially the synthetic ones, which are distributed from there to the United States.

Along with the report on the operations of the Jalisco cartel, the US Treasury Department pointed out the main leaders operating in the tourist destination.
One of them had already been included in the black list since last February, he is Sergio Armando Orozco Rodríguez, alias “El Chocho”, identified as a financial operator and leader of extortionists in businesses in Puerto Vallarta.
Also named: Carlos Andrés Rivera Varela, alias “The Firm”, of Colombian nationality; Francisco Javier Gudiño Haro, “La Gallina”, and Julio César Monterio Pinzón, “El Tarjeta”, as the leaders of the CJNG in Puerto Vallarta.
According to US sources, they are in charge of carrying out violent attacks against officials and rivals of the criminal organization.
Severo Flores Mendoza, coordinator of police chiefs for the Valles de Jalisco region -composed of 14 municipalities- was also identified as a member of the group. According to the Treasury Department, provides police information to the CJNG on operations .
The late Saúl Alejandro Rincón Godoy, alias “El Chopa”, was close to “Mencho” and was linked to several murders in Puerto Vallarta, including that of Aristóteles Sandoval, former Governor of Jalisco. The criminal died last April during a confrontation with the National Guard.
Currently, his family continues his criminal legacy. The support network for “Mencho” is made up of Esther Godoy Arellano (mother), Angelberto Rincón Godoy (brother), Julio Efraín Rincón Godoy (brother) and Moisés González Anguiano (brother-in-law), who was recently arrested.
